Mark Steiner & His Problems Jan/Feb 2017 Australian Tour.

Mark Steiner is a well-known figure in Oslo’s music underworld, as well as in Melbourne and Adelaide, Australia. Originally from New York, Steiner's noir infused compilations can leave you somewhat breathless if not emotionally high- jacked. That's a good thing right, because isn't that the mark of all virtuous musicians, to inspire, move and touch people through their music!

Steiner is currently touring Australia, with gigs in Melbourne, Adelaide and Tasmania.  Accompanying him are some of Australia's finest musicians.

So why not kick back, get comfortable and check out Mark Steiner & His Problems performing at The Tote in Collingwood, Melbourne Sunday 29th Jan 2017.

Henry Hugo's Australian tour proves yet again to be a wild success.

Once again Henry Hugo is delighting old and new fans alike with his dark and haunting songs that take you on a visual journey inside your mind.

Hugo lives in Zurich and regularly tours Europe as well as Australia, and to date, has graced our shores on numerous occasions.  He brings an intelligent yet sensitive aura to his original tunes and this very sensitivity emanates from his hand picked Aussie musicians sharing the spot light with him on stage as well.  Hugo may not be everyone's cup of tea but you can't deny him his creative genius. Hugo is an extremely talented and expressive musician. In fact, you could nearly describe him as a one man band seeing he plays piano, electric and acoustic guitars, dobro, pedal steel, organ, bass, harmonium and keyboard.

I'd suggest you get yourself to one of his gigs while he's still here.

This Sunday 29th January he plays The Tote in Collingwood, Melbourne.  In the meantime check out some of the 'Henry Hugo & The Kindred Souls' gig held at the Lyrebird Lounge recently.

Julitha Ryan, Paul Shannon, Tex Napalm, Pange Niemoeller and Marilyn Rose Veil accompanied him.

Let's go behind the scenes for sound checks and interviews with ROUND MOUNTAIN GIRLS

They've graced the stages of Bluesfest, Port Fairy, Woodford, Gympie Muster, Urban Country, Mud Bulls, Caloundra and Tamworth music festivals as well as some of the most prestigious venues in the nation, rubbing shoulders with the best acts Australia has to offer...

...welcome to the world of Round Mountain Girls.

I met these lovely lads at Byron Bay Bluesfest a few years back and was totally impressed with their original sound. They incorporate electric banjo, mandolin, fiddle and violin and they've been described as celtibillie, punk, roots, rock soul and jazz, and been called a rock band who play with the wrong instruments!

Chris Brooker, Rabbit Robinson, Chris Eaton, Francois De Klerk and Chris Willoughby are the fabulous ROUND MOUNTAIN GIRLS.

Feathers, showgirls, glitter and fantasy..

Recently I spent a fab afternoon with lovely husband and wife team Adam Dion and Nina Randall of Dion & Randall International Productions.  They are the producers of world class stage spectaculars in Australia and around the world. We chatted about their shows and took a peek at some of their exotic costumes used in past shows.

WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE

Starring the amazing 4-piece Andy Layfield sound with the awesome talent of Geoff Achison.

Imagine dancing to original songs fused with funk, soul, reggae, chew tobacco blues and purdie shuffles laced together with distinctive groove and jive overtones, that weaves a rich tapestry of guitar, harmonica, Hammond, sax and bloody awesome vocals.  Continue imagining yourself transmuted into a cerebral vortex of spine chilling music orgasms all night long.

That my friends is what's going to happen on Friday 21st Oct when two greats, Andy Layfield and his band & Geoff Achison play at the Wesley Anne situated at250 High St, Northcote.

Listen to the stunning voice of international recording artist Julitha Ryan.

I recently caught up with her and during our chat she performed The Preacher from her Lucky Girl album and Bonfire from her forthcoming album, The Winter Journey. She is a keyboard player in Melbourne instrumental band Silver Ray. She has recorded and performed with The Dead Salesmen and the Hope Addicts, Charlie Marshall, Hugo Race and Mick Harvey. Most notably Silver Ray released 4 albums to wide acclaim during the 2000’s, and toured the UK supporting Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in the middle of that decade.

HUGO RACE & MICHELANGELO RUSSO FROM THE TRUE SPIRIT BAND

Hugo and Michelangelo talk about their current projects.

Caught up with Hugo and Michelangelo from the True Spirit Band recently and over coffee we chatted about the launch of Hugo's latest album, 24 Hours to Nowhere, and current projects and tours.  At the end of the interview I added snippets of one of their Melbourne gigs held at the Winnebago Lounge in St. Kilda, Sept 2016. Check it out.  Duration approx 28 mins so kick back with your fav beverage, turn up the volumn and 'get into it'.

STACKHOUSE BAND

Every so often a band comes along and simply ‘dazzles’ and it is quickly realized that this ‘aint’ no ordinary band.   Its unique underground style and allure draws you back time and time again because you simply can’t get enough. This original, Cigar Box Guitar Band will blow 'ya mind' with their original industrial blues laced rock genre. I caught up with the guys recently and had a chat about their latest album Jack the Dancer. Afterwards they honed their chops and belted out a few tunes.
